Bittersweet – The Musical

Bittersweet was the title of our whole school musical this year, and whilst I would not say that the journey towards production was bitter as well as sweet, it was certainly a mammoth effort by a huge team with an enormously sweet outcome!

Stage 3 students took the speaking roles, ably and committedly supported by several Stage 2 students. Two Stage 2 students deserve special mention for their outstanding commitment and dedication to our production – David and Jye. These two Year 4 boys played non-speaking roles yet learned the lines of nearly every other main character, in order to step in as understudies should the need arise. An incredible feat by the boys, and much appreciated for the way you also filled in during rehearsals when other actors were absent.

Several scenes were stand-outs this year. Oliver and Joseph thoroughly enjoyed and entertained us in the stand-up verbal battles between the hero and villain of the story, while Isabella and Joy exuded warmth and companionship between the two female protagonists. No cast member can stand alone, however, and it took the whole team to ably tell the beautiful story of redemptive love found in Jesus.

A brighter future
